Known for its heavy percussive basslines and melodic synths, Amapiano (which translates loosely to “the pianos”) emerged from Gauteng, South Africa. With its links to House music and Kwaito, its slow yet energetic beats give off tones of jazz, hip-hop, and lounge that always make you want to bust a step. For the week of 4/20, I decided to slow it down this time and vibe out to the sounds of the motherland. As always, drink your juice, huff your puff, and enjoy the tunes!
About
From the super fast-paced strides of the New Yorkers, to the rumbling vibrations of express trains passing a local stop, or even the never-ending sound of sirens speeding to their destination; this episode is all sensory. Come dive in to the hustle and bustle of my hometown that is also one of the homes and foundations of some of House music’s pioneers and legends.
